Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif dengan pendekatan case studi multi-kasus dan multi-situs, melibatkan 17 informan kunci dengan rincian 10 pengrajin dan 7 pelaku desa wisata. Tahap penelitian meliputi survei lapangan, observasi lapangan, partisipasi lapangan, wawancara naturalistik, pembangkitan data, pengkodingan data, analisa dan sintesa data. Penelitian dilakukan sejak Mei 2021 sampai September 2023 di tiga kalurahan yaitu Tanjung Harjo, Hargotirto, dan Pengasih yang mempunyai kharakteristik fenomena unik baik budaya, sosial, dan ekonomi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Aktivitas masyarakat ekonomi kreatif di sektor pengrajin serat alam didasarkan pola manajemen ekonomi usaha pribadi yang sudah terpola dengan mitra meliputi: penggalian ide kreativitas, negoisasi pembeli, penyiapan alat dan bahan, ngleles, ngecrik, ngelabang, nganyam, ngrumbe, ngrece, packaging, promosi, pengiriman, umpan balik (testimoni). Sedangkan aktivitas pelaku usaha dibidang wisata berbasis sosial dan budaya dan pelopor penggerak yang kreatif. Contohnya Aktivitas batik kontemporer meliputi pemesanan dari pembeli, membuat abstraksi pola batik, menyiapkan alat dan bahan, melakukan motif cap, cipratan/goresan, nyanting, nembok, pencelupan/teknik pewarnaan colet, ngelorod, penjemuran, packaging, pengiriman, promosi. Pada proses gula semut penderes melakukan aktivitas nderes pagi dan sore untuk mendapatkan nila, diolah menjadi gula jawa, pengolahan gula semut dari peleburan, disaring, pendinginan, packaging, pengiriman, promosi. (2) Peta kompetensi pelaku pengrajin mengutamakan kreativitas, ketekunan, kesabaran, ketelitian, dan estetika. Kharakteristik pada pengrajin, pelaku desa wisata pembatik dan pengolah gula jawa mampu hingga sampai tahap penemuan produk baru melalui 8 fase domain baik aspek kognitif, afektif, sensorimotor, sosial, dan budaya (3) Pola pikir masyarakat ekonomi kreatif yang kompatibel dengan teori pengembangan nilai seperti ―ora obah ora mamah‖ kaitanya dengan esensi hidup harus bekerja. Pendidikan pre- vokasional yang lebih banyak mengembangan nilai-nilai dasar pendidikan kerja, demikian juga seperti ―urip iku kudu urup” mengandung prinsip exsistensialisme, dimana orang Jawa sudah kritis terhadap filsafat era pencerahan yang mengagungkan teknologi industri yang menggeser kemanusiaan manusia ke alat produksi. Masyarakat secara umum bisa dikatakan masyarakat vokasional karena harus mau, mampu bekerja melalui belajar kompetensi kebekerjaan. Masyarakat vokasional (vocational society) melakukan pendekatan model belajar melalui life base learning membentuk kepemimpinan. Manusia sebagai khalifah dibumi harus menjadi pemimpin untuk memelihara alam yang disediakan Tuhan untuk dikelola dengan baik sebagai bentuk hamemayu- hayuning bawana. Vocational society memberikan kontribusi manfaat (murakabi) selaras dengan pilar sustainable development goals (SDGs). Semua itu berhulu pada tiga core beliefs: 1) hamemayu- hayuning bawana, 2) sangkan paraning dumadi, 3) manunggaling kawula-gusti.
