Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di komunitas Gerakan Tuna Rungu Indonesia (GERKATIN) Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dengan sumber data enam orang individu dengan hambatan pendengaran, lima orang tua masing-masing individu dengan hambatan pendengaran dan satu orang adik dari inidvidu hambatan pendengaran. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis dari Miles dan Huberman dengan bantuan aplikasi NVivo 12 plus yang meliputi koleksi data, kondensasi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Proses eksplorasi karier pada individu dengan hambatan pendengaran antara lain mengenal dan memahami diri, mengumpulkan informasi tentang karier serta menyelaraskan kemampuan diri dan pilihan karier (2) Peluang karier bagiindividu dengan hambatan pendengaran antara lain guru bahasa isyarat, juru bahasa isyarat, seniman, wirausahawan, petugas kebersihan, atlet, dan fasilitator Kementerian Sosial. Sementara hambatan pada proses eksplorasi karier antara lain adanya stigma negatif, konflik keluarga, terbatasnya pilihan karier, keterlambatan studi formal, dan komunikasi dengan orang dengar. (3) Peran orang tua dalam proses eksplorasi karier antara lain mempercayai kemampuan anak, menerima ketulian, memahami budaya tuli, memiliki harapan akan masa depan, mendukung atas keputusan anak, dan melibatkan diri dalam setiap proses eksplorasi karier anak. Peran komunitas dalam proses eksplorasi karier mereka adalah memfasilitasi pemberdayaan, menghadirkan role model sebagai mentor, mengadakan pelatihan, dan menyediakan informasi lewat sosial media. (4) Faktor-faktor yang mendukung keberhasilan karier mereka antara lain keluarga, komunitas, self- determination, penelusuran minat, serta pendidikan dan keahlian. Penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa individu dengan hambatan pendengaran lebih banyak melakukan aktifitas terkait eksplorasi karier dalam komunitas mereka. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya peluang bagi pelaksana layanan bimbingan dan konseling berbasis komunitas.
