Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif non-eksperimental. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari – Juni 2022 di enam SMP di Kabupaten Sleman. Sampel sejumlah 378 peserta didik SMP di Kabupaten Sleman ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik stratified sampling. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan tes pilihan ganda dan uraian serta dua kusioner. Nilai reliabilitas dari keempat intrumen memiliki nilai di antara 0.840 – 0.890, dan nilai validitas sebesar 0.800 – 0.870. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, uji beda Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Kemampuan literasi lingkungan peserta didik masuk kategori cukup, dan terbagi dalam kategori nominal environmental literacy dan functional environmental literacy. (2) Peserta didik di kawasan tengah memiliki kemampuan yang paling baik, khususnya pada aspek pengetahuan dan keterampilan kognitif. Peserta didik di wilayah timur dan barat memiliki kemampuan yang hampir sama pada tiap aspek dan merata pada tiap aspek. Peserta didik di bagian utara memperoleh nilai relatif rendah dibandingkan dengan peserta didik di kawasan lain. (3) Terdapat perbedaan kemampuan literasi lingkungan pada aspek keterampilan kognitif, afektif, dan sikap (nilai sig < 0,05) pada tiap kawasan di Kabupaten Sleman.
