This research uses the research and development (RnD) method developed by Borg and Gall which consists of 10 stages. The subjects of the study were the fourth grade students in the Sleman regency. The data collection used interviews (need analysis), questionnaires, observations and tests. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, t-test, and MANOVA. The stages of developing animation video of sainsmatika stories based on mobile learning consists of planning, product development, expert validation, testing, revision, and dissemination. The results showed that: 1) animation video of sainsmatika stories based on mobile learning that was developed met the eligibility criteria based on the validation of material experts and media experts, as well as teacher?s responses and student?s responses with very decent categories; 2) animation video of sainsmatika stories based on mobile learning that was developed was effective to improve communication skills and independence of students, there was a significant increase based on the MANOVA test with a significance level of 0,000 <0.05.
