Experiments or treatments used are using cognitive restructuring techniques. The subjects of this study were 8 class IX sports students of SMP N 1 Kretek Bantul who entered the category of anxiety facing a high national examination. The instrument for collecting data uses an anxiety scale facing national examinations. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive statistical data analysis with hypothesis testing using non-parametric wilcoxon statistical analysis The results of the study showed that in reducing anxiety in facing the national exam of class IX sport students SMP N 1 Kretek Bantul can be done using cognitive restructuring techniques. This is evidenced by the results of the Wilcoxon signed ranks test analysis showing that the calculated Z value is greater than the Z table value which is 2.533> 2.262 and the significance value is smaller than the 5% error level which is 0.011 <0.05. The results of the gain score calculation show that the average score of anxiety facing the national exams owned by students during the pre- test is 74.58% while the average value of anxiety facing the national exam owned by students at the post-test has decreased to 37, 08%. Other results from the analysis obtained a gain score of 0.59 with a moderate category. Based on the results of these studies it can be concluded that the use of effective cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce anxiety facing the national exams of class IX sports students SMP N 1 Kretek Bantul
