This study is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study amounted to 17 students who were determined by purposive sampling technique. Data collection using a scale of learning motivation and learning discipline scale. The validity of the instrument used was experimental judgment. The instrument reliability test used Cronbach's Alpha formula with r value of 0.889 for learning motivation variables and 0.855 for learning discipline variables. The data analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon test and the Man Whitney test. The results are as follows. (1) Self-management in group counseling is effective in improving the motivation special sports class students of SMP Negeri 3 Sleman. The results of the data analysis show that eight students in the experimental group were in the low learning motivation category with an average value of 53.12, and after the treatment all of them experienced an increase with an average value of 96.00. In the control group, an average value of 52.33 was obtained in the pre-test, while the average value decreased in the post-test, namely 52.00. (2) Self-management in group counseling is effective in improving the learning discipline of the special sports class students of SMP Negeri 3 Sleman. In the experimental group, it was found that the category of learning discipline was low with an average value of 79.22 before the treatment and the group's average score increased to 114.11. The control group obtained an average score of 83.89 before the treatment and the group's average score decreased to 83.78 at theposttest.} }
