"A PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS OF ADDRESSING EXPRESSION IN EAT, PRAY, \r\nLOVE MOVIE TEXT AND ITS BAHASA INDONESIA TRANSLATION "^^ . " \r\n This research is aimed (1) to describe the purposes of addressing expression in \r\nEat, Pray, Love movie text and its Bahasa Indonesia translation, (2) to describe how \r\nthe address terms expressed in Eat, Pray, Love movie texts and its Bahasa Indonesia \r\ntranslation, (3) to describe social factors influencing the use of address form used in \r\nEat, Pray, Love movie texts and its Bahasa Indonesia translation, especially in the \r\nsecond person pronouns. \r\n This research used two-research design; they are quantitative and qualitative \r\nmethods. The data are addressing expression were taken from the dialogue of movie \r\nentitled Eat, Pray, Love and its Bahasa Indonesia translation. These data were \r\ncollected by using data tables. Then, the data were analyzed based on speech acts, \r\ngrammatical form, and social context. \r\nThe result of this research shows that, the purposes of using addressing \r\nexpression mostly is directive with total numbers 112 (57.40%), representative with \r\ntotal number 67 (34.30%), expressive with total number 13 (6.70%), commisive with \r\ntotal numbers 3 (1.60%), then declarative with total number 0 (0%). Representative is \r\nmostly used in declarative sentence with total number 126, directive is mostly used in \r\ninterrogative sentence with total number 70, expression and commisive are mostly \r\nused in declarative sentences. The addressed term express in some types of sentences, \r\n92 (47.20%) address terms are declarative sentence, 73 (37.40%) address terms are \r\ninterrogative sentence, and 30 (15.40%) address terms are imperative sentence. The \r\nresearcher finds 150 (76.90%) numbers of data express intimacy between the speaker \r\nand the addresser in the source language and 124 (63.60%) in target language. \r\nSolidarity in source language is expressed in 41 (21%) numbers and 40 (20.50%) \r\nnumbers in target language. The small number of 4 (2.10%) in source language and \r\n31 (15.90%) in target language express the power factor. The distribution of \r\ngrammatical shows that declarative sentence is prominent in representative, because \r\nthe purpose of representative is to state ideas of the speaker. Iinterrogative sentence is \r\nprominent directive, since interrogative sentences are more polite to get the addresser \r\ndo or not to do something that the speaker wants. Social-relationship between the \r\nspeaker and the addresser influence the using of grammatical form. The using of \r\ngrammatical form is influenced by social culture or social context between the \r\nspeaker and the addresser. Declarative sentences are mostly used in any social \r\ncontexts because declarative is a basic sentence to transfer informations. Imperative \r\nsentences are lack in number since their aim is to get the person to do or not to do \r\nsomething. "^^ . "2012-06-29" . . . "Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta"^^ . . .
