%L UNY67851 %A Sairil Sairil %A Pratomo Widodo %X This study aims to reveal (1) types of the borrowing words, (2) meaning shifts, and (3) adaptation process into Indonesian. This study used a qualitative method. The subject of this study is the borrowing words in the novel I am Sarahza. While the object of this study is the borrowing words in the form of words and phrases. The instrument is the researcher himself (human instrument). The data were collected using the reading and note-taking techniques, and analysed using the the match (padan) referensial and ortografis methods. The finding shows that there are three types of borrowing words, three types of meaning shifts: generalization, specialization, and fixed. By analyzing the process of adaptation of two foreign languages into Indonesian in accordance with KBBI or words that have been integrated into Indonesian, the researcher found that the most dominant words appearing are the loanword (240 words), while the least dominant words are the loanblend (50 words). The manifestation of meaning shifts is the expansion of meaning, the narrowing of meaning, and no sense change of meaning. The least dominant meaning shift is the expansion of meaning (16 words), while there are 410 borrowing words from two foreign languages. There are 153 borrowing words from English and 235 from Arabic, and there are 22 abbreviations.
