Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah sembilan orang yang merupakan masyarakat Dusun Kalangbangi Kulon.\r\nPenelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan mengunakan pendekatan studi fenomenologi. Alat pengumpulan data ialah wawancara. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini mengunakan wawancara yang disusun berdasarkan 7 aspek yang dianggap berpengaruh terhadap masyarakat dalam memaknai olahraga, yaitu: (1) Diri Sendiri, (2) Keluarga, (3) Media Massa, (4) Kebutuhan, (5) Gaya Hidup, (6) Lingkungan, (7) Makna olahraga. Analisis data yang dilakukan dengan proses editing, klarifikasi, pengelompokan kode. Pada akhirnya, pemeriksaan keabsahan data yang digunakan adalah ketercakupan Referensial (Referential Adequacy) atau menggunakan bahan refrensi.\r\nHasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa masyarakat memaknai olahraga sendiri berbeda satu dengan lainya. (1) Masyarakat menjadikan olahraga sebagai hobi dalam aktivitas fisik atau tanpa aktivitas fisik. (2) Masyarakat menganggap olahraga merupakan sebuah kebutuhan. Namun kenyatannya, masyarakat belum mampu menjadikan sebagai kebutuhan, olahraga dimasyarakat cenderung bersifat sebagai keinginan. (3) Tujuan masyarakat berolahraga untuk menjaga kondisi tubuh dan berperilaku sehat. (4) Orang tua memperkenalkan olahraga untuk, pendidikan dalam menyalurkan bakat dan kemampuan agar anak memperoleh prestasi.
