Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Prambanan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment) dengan desain penelitian non-equivalen control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Prambanan Yogyakarta yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Jumlah sampel peserta pada kelas eksperimen sebanyak 26 sedangkan sampel pada kelas kontro sebanyak 29 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan pada kemampuan terintegrasi berupa tes uraian, sedangkan pada sikap kreatif dan keterampilan komunikasi berupa lembar angket dan lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan one way MANOVA. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa (1) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara model 5E dan model 5M terhadap kemampuan terintegrasi, sikap kreatif dan keterampilan komunikasi peserta didik pada materi laju reaksi (2) Terdapat sumbangan positif antara model learning cycle 5E terhadap kemampuan terintegrasi sebesar 44,4 %, terdapat sumbangan positif antara model learning cycle 5E terhadap sikap kreatif sebesar 66,6 %, terdapat sumbangan positif antara model learning cycle 5E terhadap keterampilan komunikasi sebesar 71,4 %.
