Penelitian merupakan research and development dengan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretes-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah 36 siswa kelas XI MIPA SMA 2 Batang untuk uji coba terbatas, 295 siswa kelas XI MIPA dari tiga sekolah di Kabupaten Batang untuk uji empiris dan 92 siswa kelas X MIPA SMA N 2 Batang untuk uji coba lapangan. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes kemampuan representasi diagram dan vektor, dan angket penilaian kelayakan aspek materi dan media, angket telaah instrumen tes, dan angket respon siswa. Validasi instrumen dilakukan dengan Aiken’s V dan teori respon butir pada partial credit model (PCM) untuk goodness of fit. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah skala baku untuk analisis kelayakan produk dan General Linear Model (GLM) dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 untuk menguji keefektifan produk dalam meningkatkan kemampuan representasi diagram dan vektor. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) MLMs yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran fisika SMA berdasarkan penilaian aspek materi dengan skor 3,67 dari skala 1 sampai 4; aspek media dengan skor 3,61 dan respon siswa dengan kategori sangat baik.
