Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang mengacu pada 10 tahapan pengembangan Borg & Gall. Produk yang dikembangkan adalah media LAVIA berbasis inkuiri yang dinilai oleh ahli media, ahli materi, pendidik kimia, peer reviewer, dan di ujicobakan pada peserta didik. Sampel yang digunakan pada uji pelaksanaan lapangan adalah dua kelas, satu kelas digunakan sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan penerapan media LAVIA berbasis inkuiri, sedangkan kelas lainnya sebagai kelas kontrol yang tidak menerapkan media tersebut. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi, angket kemampuan inkuiri, dan soal hasil belajar kognitif yang telah divalidasi sebelumnya. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah MANOVA, untuk menguji perbedaan kemampuan inkuiri dan hasil belajar kognitif dengan adanya penerapan media tersebut. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut.
