%T An Analysis of Translation Borrowing Procedure of Blogger.
%X The aim of this study was to discover the types of borrowing translation procedure from English into Indonesian of Blogger, to describe the frequency of type of borrowing translation procedure from English into Indonesian of Blogger, to provide suggested translation of borrowing translation procedure, and to find out elements of borrowing translation procedure of Blogger dashboard.
This research was qualitative study to describe the implementation of translation procedure especially borrowing procedure of Blogger dashboard from English into Indonesian. The unit analysis of the study were words, phrases, clauses, and sentences which contained borrowing translation procedure. The source of data in this study was Blogger dashboard recent version in 2017 which consisted of (1) posts, (2) stats, (3) comments, (4) campaigns, (5) pages, (6) layout, (7) theme, and (8) setting. Technique of data collection in this study was content analysis and the instrument of data collection was human instrument. This study used expert judgment technique to ensure data validation. The data were analyzed to find types of borrowing translation procedure based on KBBI and expert judgment. Suggested translations were a result of comparison of translation of Joomla.com, Wordpress.com, Blog Detik, Blog Ponsel, Gmail, and Outlook. The element of borrowing was based on the theory of Newmark (1988) and Aissi (1987).
The results of the study showed two types of borrowing translation procedure. They were pure borrowing and naturalized borrowing. There were 108 (93.1%) pure borrowing and there were 7 (6.3%) naturalized borrowing. This study showed pure borrowing translation dominated borrowing translation procedure in Blogger dashboard which consisted of 108 units of total of borrowing procedure 115 units. Furthermore, there were 98 suggested translations which had equivalence form in Indonesia which consisted of 89 suggested translations of other blog hosts and emails (SToBE) and 9 suggested translations of Dictionary (SToD). Further, there were of 31 elements of borrowing consisting of 9 proper names (8 brand names and 1 logo) and 23 technical terms (3 technical term abbreviations and 19 full form technical terms).
