Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa \r\nkelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Imogiri yang berjumlah 219 siswa. Teknik penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Hasilnya ditetapkan kelas VIII A, VIII \r\nB, dan VIII D sebagai sampel penelitian. Uji validitas dilakukan oleh expert judgement dan guru mata pelajaran. Pengujian reliabilitas menggunakan rumus Alpha Cronbach pada program IBM SPSS 22.0, diperoleh nilai alpha sebesar 0,818 dan 0,613. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket berkaitan dengan kemampuan metakognisi dan tes terkait kemampuan membaca cepat. Hasil uji prasyarat analisis menunjukkan bahwa instrumen penelitian berdistribusi normal dan linear. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah korelasi product moment. \r\nHasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan metakognisi siswa berkategori sedang, (2) kemampuan membaca cepat siswa berkategori sedang, dan (3) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dan searah antara kemampuan metakognisi dan \r\nmembaca cepat siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Imogiri. Hubungan tersebut ditunjukkan rhitung sebesar 0,640 lebih besar daripada rtabel dengan N = 93 sebesar 0,263 \r\npada taraf signifikansi 1%. \r\n \r\nKata Kunci: Kemampuan metakognisi, membaca cepat"^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string> .
