Praktik Pengalaman Lapangan (PPL) ini memiliki misi yaitu untuk menyiapkan dan menghasilkan tenaga kependidikan (calon guru) yang memiliki nilai, sikap, pengetahuan dan ketrampilan yang profesional, maka pelaksanaan PPL ini akan sangat membantu mahasiswa dalam memasuki realita dunia kependidikan dan sebagai sarana untuk menerapkan ilmu yang diperolehnya selama mengikuti perkuliahan. Salah satu tempat yang menjadi lokasi KKN-PPL UNY 2013 adalah SMA N 5 Magelang yang beralamat di Jl. Barito II, Sidotopo, Magelang.\r\nDalam pelaksanaan PPL, mahasiswa praktikan memperoleh praktik mengajar mata pelajaran Sosiologi kelas X semester gasal,  serta untuk mendukung kegiatan penyampaian materi pada peserta didik maka digunakan buku pegangan dan referensi dari internet, serta lembar kerja peserta didik untuk menyampaikan beberapa kompetensi tersebut. Dalam pelaksanaan praktik pengalaman mengajar praktikan menggunakan beberapa metode yang diantaranya yaitu metode ceramah menggunakan powerpoint ataupun permainan sederhana yangbertujuan untuk membuat proses kegiatan belajar mengajar berjalan dengan baik dan efektif.\r\nPraktek pengalaman lapangan (PPL) dapat terlaksana dengan baik dan dapat memenuhi target frekuensi mengajar yang telah ditetapkan sebanyak minimal 8 kali pertemuan, adapun praktikan sudah mencapai lebih dari 8  kali pertemuan. Hambatan yang ditemui oleh praktikan dalam melaksanakan PPL adalah siswa terkadang ramai sendiri sehingga kondisi kelas menjadi kurang terkontrol dan gaduh. Kesimpulan kegiatan KKN-PPL yang telah dilakukan adalah mahasiswa praktikan dapat memiliki pengalaman mengajar sebagai salah satu bentuk kemampuan untuk dapat menyampaikan suatu materi ataupun pendapat di depan umum, sehingga sangat bermanfaat untuk terjun di masyarakat nantinya sebagai pelengkap teori-teori yang telah didapatkan di bangku kuliah. Kunjungan dan pengarahan dari pihak UPPL sangat diperlukan secara berkala agar praktikan dapat lebih terkontrol dalam kegiatan praktiknya. Kepercayaan sekolah terhadap praktikan  PPL sangat diharapkan dalam rangka memotivasi dan membangun rasa percaya diri praktikan dalam proses pengajaran."^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string> .
