%X The main problem in this research is how the historical background of
 Bathok Bolu is and how the tradition of society in Sambiroto
 Purwomartani Sleman Yogyakarta in relation to Bathok Bolu. Another
 important problem is how Bathok Bolu and the tradition of society in
 Sambiroto Purwomartani Sleman are seen from religion and cultural
 perspective. The aim of this research is finding the answers of the problems
 above.
 This is a descriptive-qualitative research. This research only depicts an
 event- depiction of Bathok Bolu and its surrounding. Data were obtained
 through in-depth interview,field observation,and documentation. The data
 were analyzed qualitatively using inductive analysis technique.
 The result of the research shows that Bathok Bolu is a religious cultural
 torism located in the bank of Sendang ayu and separated from Sambiroto.
 This religious cultural resort can be divided into two areas: sacred area
 and profane area. Some traditions developed in Bathok Bolu are
 pilgrimage to Demang Ranupati and Yang Guru Burials at Thursday
 Kliwon and Friday Kliwon in order to get blessing.Art ceremony in Bathok
 Bolu is celebrated annually at Sura (Muharram). From cultural view,
 Bathok Bolu is a mirror of local society who own high cultural value and
 local wisdom.
