"This research aims to: (1) analyze the level and distribution of eruption hazard, (2) produce eruption hazard maps of Merapi Volcano after the 2010 eruption. The analysis of the eruption hazard was performed by considering geomorphological aspects supported by remote sensing and geographic information systems, utilizing new database after the 2010 eruption. This research employs an explorative-survey method with geographical approach namely regional complex approach. The samples were taken by using purposive sampling techniques that is in every terrain unit. The data collection techniques include observations, remote sensing image interpretations, and documentations. The analysis performed in this research consists of GIS analysis through overlay and buffering, scoring analysis, supported by qualitative descriptive analysis to discuss the influence of geomorphological conditions on the potential of the hazards. The research findings show that: there are some morphological changes which affect the level of eruption hazard after 2010 eruption. In western flank of Merapi Volcano, there are variations of hazard level namely the low hazard level, medium, high, and very high. Low hazard level which is often found in the study area is distributed on landform unit volcanic foot plain up to fluvio volcanic plain. Medium hazard level spreads on landform unit volcanic foot up to volcanic foot plain. High and very high hazard level only covers small area particularly in some part of volcanic cone and crater located next to the center of volcanic activity. The level of eruption hazard is influenced by various terrain factors which include distance that is relatively close from the crater and river channel, slope tends to be steep, relief unit hilly and mountainous, land cover, vegetation with low density and agricultural crops, and volcanic facies that is located close to the center of eruption.\r\n\r\nKeywords: Merapi Volcano, hazard, eruption\r\n\r\nTheme: Disaster and Environment"^^ .
