Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif dengan melalui pendekatan semiotik. Data penelitian berupa bait dan baris dalam puisi Das Theater, Stätte der Träume. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah puisi Das Theater, Stätte der Träume karya Bertolt Brecht. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan pembacaan berulang-ulang, pencatatan data dan baca markah. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri (human instrument). Keabsahan data diperoleh dengan validitas semantis dan diperkuat dengan validitas expert judgment. Reliabilitas yang digunakan adalah reliabilitas intrarater dan interrater. \r\nHasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Hasil pembacaan heuristik yang dilakukan pada tiap kalimat menunjukkan bahwa puisi ini bercerita tentang dikotomi antara teater epik Brecht dengan teater Aristoteles. Kemudian hasil dari pembacaan hermeneutik menunjukkan bahwa puisi ini merupakan kritik Brecht terhadap teater Aristoteles. (2) Ketidaklangsungan ekspresi meliputi: a) Penggantian arti ditunjukkan oleh bahasa kiasan metafora, metonimie dan pars pro toto. b) Penyimpangan arti ditunjukkan oleh ambiguitas dan kontradiksi. Ambiguitas dalam puisi ini berupa kata dan frasa. Kontradiksi dalam puisi ini ditunjukkan dengan penggunaan gaya bahasa ironi. c) Penciptaan arti ditunjukkan oleh Enjambement. Enjambement dalam puisi ini menciptakan penekanan atau penegasan suatu kata atau kalimat. (3) Matriks dalam puisi ini yaitu kritik teater epik Brecht terhadap teater Aristoteles. Model dalam puisi ini adalah das Theater dan variannya berupa masalah-masalah atau uraian pada bait puisi Das Theater, Stätte der Träume. Dari matriks, model, dan varian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tema puisi Das Theater, Stätte der Träume adalah kritik Bertolt Brecht terhadap teater Aristoteles. (4) Hipogram dalam puisi ini berupa hipogram potensial dan aktual.
