The type of this research was Research and Development (R&D). The procedures were adapted from ADDIE Model proposed by Taylor. ADDIE stands for Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Puring. The data were collected through questionnaires (need analysis questionnaire and expert judgments). The results of this research were (1) the target needs of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Puring were able read and understanding English texts and mastering the vocabulary, (2) their learning needs were learning materials of which the topics are related to narrative text, (3) the materials developed, reading interactive multimedia, were considered appropriate to be implemented to the students based on the result of the evaluation both from the content expert and the media expert. It was proved by the mean value of the results of the questionnaires obtained by both the evaluators was 4.25. Based on the Quantitative Data Conversion proposed by Sudijono (2003: 335), it was categorized very good.
