"This research was aimed to improve the writing learning process of the \r\neighth grade students of SMP N 2 Padangan, Bojonegoro through comic strips in \r\nthe academic year of 2014/2015. \r\nThis study was an action research study. It was done in two cycles, from \r\n14th\r\n of October to 24th\r\n of October 2014. Each cycle consisted of three meetings. \r\nThe steps of the research were reconnaissance, planning, action and observation \r\nand reflection. The subjects of this research were 34 students of VIIIB class and \r\nthe English teacher. The data were mainly in the form of qualitative data, and the \r\nquantitative data were also added. The data were collected through observing \r\nthe teaching learning process, giving questionnaire, taking photographs of the \r\nteaching learning process and interviewing the students. The instruments for \r\ncollecting data were the interview guide and questionnaire. The data were \r\nanalyzed qualitatively and the quantitative data were added to show the number \r\nof students’ improvement. The field notes and interview transcripts were analyzed \r\nqualitatively through four steps namely data collection, data reduction, data \r\ndisplay, and conclusions (drawing and verifying). The validity of the research was \r\nobtained through five validities namely, process validity, democratic validity, \r\ndialogic validity, catalytic validity, and outcome validity. \r\n The results of the research indicated that the use of comic strips \r\neffectively improved the students’ learning process in writing recount texts. The \r\nstrategy made a quite much improvement on the students’ writing learning \r\nprocess in the aspects of participation, involvement, students’ awareness, level of \r\nnoisiness, and confidence. The number of improvement of the students was \r\n85.5% after the implementation generally, the number of students actively having \r\nquestions was improved from 26% to 82.3%, students worked their homework \r\nwere improved from 55% to 91%, students who were interested in doing the task \r\nwere improved from 41% to 97%, students who were joining the activity without \r\nmaking noise were improved from 38% to 88%, and students who worked \r\nindividually during the task were improved from 35% to 70%. The use of comic \r\nstrips also improved the teaching and learning process of writing such as the \r\nstudents’ involvement and classroom interaction. Therefore, teachers should \r\nalways try to create interesting ways for their teaching. Based on the result, the \r\nteacher can apply comic strips to improve the students’ learning process in \r\nwriting especially in the text types similar to the recount text."^^ . "2015-04-21" . . .
