N2  - This research aims at determining motivation of the participants of the gymnastics competition held to celebrate the Birth of Yogyakarta State University. This research was conducted using the survey method with questionnaires. The populations involved the participants of gymnastics competition and all of the populations were taken as the samples. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistical technique. The results show that the level intrinsic factors involving happy feeling, recreation, and achievement was 76.98%, while the level of extrinsic motivation involving facilities, awards, benefits, attention, and refereeing was 68.13%.
