The development was an effort to produce appropriate EFL materials based on cultural context for grade VI students of elementary schools. The development was conducted in four steps: pre-research process, product development, field-testing, and validation process. The research subjects were the VI grade students of primary schools in South Kalimantan. The techniques for collecting the data were questionnaire, observation, and interview. The instruments of the data collection were validation sheet for a material expert, observation sheet, interview guides, and questionnaire. The data were collected by means of validation form from the expert, students’ response, and teacher’s response. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis. The result of the research is as follows: 1) The quality of the product is in a good category with the average score f 3.5 for material aspect; 3.5 for learning aspect; 3.67 for additional information aspect; 4 for learner aspect; and 4 for evaluation aspect. 2) The students’ responses to the product are categorized very good with the total average score of 4.216. 3) The teacher’s response of the product is categorized good with the total average score of 4. Based on those results, it is confirmed that the EFL material based on cultural context for primary schools in South Kalimantan is accepted respectfully and appropriate to be used in English learning and teaching process in primary schools
