Abstract

This study aims at determining influences of mode, mode order, cavity sizes, and cavity wall conductivity on the propagation power weakening of microwave on a guide plane with square-shaped cavity. This study was done by using Mat lab computer programming. The monitoring was done by varying variables and maintained other variables (control). The research results showed that the propagation power weakening on TE mode was greater than TM mode. The value increment of the mode order caused a greater cutoff frequency and so did with the power weakening which was greater. The lower the material conductivity of cavity wall, the greater the power weakening. The greater the square cavity size, the lower the propagation power weakening. The ratio of the cavity size (height/width) having the lowest relative power weakening value was Ratio of ½ for TE mode and Ratio of 2 for TM mode. Ratio of 1 for all modes had the greatest propagation power weakening. Key words : microwave, power weakening, computer programming Year : 2008
