Abstract

This study aims at (1) determining differences in the effect of the application of the cooperative teaching model of TGT type with presentation method on learning outcomes of the students of grade X of MAN Godean on the topic of optical equipment and (2) determining included variable contribution covering students’ initial knowledge and affective aspects towards students’ learning outcomes on the topic of optical equipment. This study was experimental study using the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample of the research was 48 students of MAN Godean of class X A and X B in the academic year of 2009/2010. Research instruments were pretest items, student work sheets (LKS), Game’s items, and quizzes’ items. This research lasted for six weeks. The teaching was focused on the students’ activity to work together in groups, doing practices from LKS, and smart students taught materials to ordinary students in the form of doing some practices. The data analysis used was covariant analysis (anakova). Analysis results using Covariant analysis (anakova) show that there are significant differences in the effect of the application of cooperative teaching model of TGT type (Teams Game Tournament) with presentation method towards students’ physics learning outcomes of grade X of MAN Godean on the topic of optical equipment with Fcount (6.32) greater than Ftable of 5% (4.08) and the students’ initial knowledge contribution was 77.3% while the contribution for the affective aspect was 22.69%.
