YUSRI: The Improvement of Leaning Outcomes in Social Studies through Constructive Model Supported by Learning Media in Grade VIII-D of SMP Negeri 1 Sentolo, Kulon Progo. Thesis. Yogyakarta : Graduate School, Yogyakarta State University, 2014.

The study aims to improve the learning outcomes in social studies through implementing the constructive model using media to students in the grade VIII-D of SMP Negeri 1 Sentolo, Kulon Progo.

This was classroom action research employing a design of research by Kemmis and Taggart, consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is the grade VIII-D SMP Negeri 1 Sentolo in the first semester in the academic year of 2013/2014, 32 students . There are two cycles in this study. The first cycle, constructivist model was supported by picture and power point, the second cycle, constructivist model was supported by video. The researcher did as observer and collaborator teacher of Social Studies who teaches the class as action doer. The data were collected through: observation to collect students and teacher activity data for process of teaching and learning; test to measure students learning outcomes after teaching and learning using constructivist model supported by learning media; documentation to collect data that was received and used for action; and field notes to record the data of action result and unpredictable events. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive quantitative statistic of average scores to compare the improvement in the first cycle and second cycle.

The results show the beginning the average score the learning outcomes in social studies is 59.41 (mastery learning 0%), the first cycle the average score become 70.31 (mastery learning 62.50 %), in the second cycle become a gain 82.66 (mastery learning 93.75 %). The results show that the implementation of constructive model using media significantly increases learning outcomes of social studies in the grade VIII-D of SMP Negeri 1 Sentolo Kulon Progo.
